Jim Requirements for Linux
Jim will run under all 64-bit versions of Linux that can
run
Oracle Java version 17. This includes systems with Intel, AMD or ARMv8 processors.
Supported Versions of Linux
To run Jim, your computer must be capable of running Java version
17. Suitable Linux distributions include Red Hat, SuSE and Oracle.
See the
Oracle Web Site for more details of supported
systems. However, please note that Java 17 will work on most systems even if
they are not officially supported by Oracle.
Special Requirements for Linux
- You must have OpenGL Version 1.3 or later installed; if it is not
installed, install it from your installation source or from your
graphics card manufacturer's web site.
- For 3-D display to work reliably, we recommend graphics cards by Nvidia or ATI, together
with the latest drivers.
Other cards may work if they support OpenGL, but may exhibit 'glitches'. If you have problems
with Jim's 3-D display, please go to your graphics card manufacturer's web site and
install the latest driver.
