Setting up a Connection to a License Server

If you have purchased network (floating) licenses for Jim, and your license server has been set up by your systems administrator, you can now connect to the server. When you try to start Jim for the first time, you will see a pop-up message that says you have no license. Click on the to initiate a connection. You only need to set up the connection the first time that you connect.

A dialog will pop up like the one below:

You can either enter the name of your license server ("myserver", in the example above), or its I/P address if the name isn't registered on your computer. Enter the I/P address as four numbers, such as 66.249.91.103, with each number entered in a separate box in the dialog.

The default port number will be shown in the dialog; it will not normally be necessary to change this unless your systems administrator has chosen a different port number.

You can verify that the connection to the license server can be made by clicking the button. When you have entered the correct setting, click the to connect to the license server and request a license.

In case of difficulty, please speak to your systems administrator for information about the server I/P address and port number used by Jim's license server.
