Linking Multiple Displays

If you have multiple display frames, created by spawning frames within Jim, then you can link the displays together to that you control Slave displays from the Master. You can also link together the master Movie display to slave Movie displays so that movies run side-by-side in synchrony.

When displays are linked together, the following actions in the Master display will affect what is displayed in all the Slave displays:

When Master and Slave Movie displays are linked, and the Master movie is running, the Slave Movie will run synchronised to the Master. The Slave will attempt to display same frame synchronously with the Master; however, this is of course only possible if the image displayed in the Slave has at least as many image frames as that image in the Master display.

To link Master and Slave displays, click on the button towards the top right of the display. Notice that the button icon changes to , to indicate the displays are linked or "locked" together.

Note: all master and slave displays will be linked. It is not possible to link the Master display to just some of the Slaves.

When the displays are linked, then as you navigate through the slices in the Master display, or zoom and pan the slices in the Master display, you will see changes to the images displayed in the Slave displays, just as if you were performing the same control in each Slave.

Note: although control actions in the Master display affect the Slaves, actions in a Slave have no effect on any other displays (Master or other Slaves).

Note: you can set whether the displays are linked when Jim is first started in the user preferences.

Linked Cursors

You can link cursor in Master and Slave displays so that as you move the cursor in one display, the cursor position is shown in all the other displays. To start using linked cursors, click on the button.
Note: the button is not active unless you have linked displays ().
This is a 3-way button that will cycle through these settings as you repeatedly press the button:

Linked Displays and Regions of Interest

When the Master and Slave displays are linked () and you are creating, editing and displaying
Regions of Interest (ROIs) in the Master display, you can display the same regions automatically on any Slave displays. These ROIs are not actually present in the Slave displays, they are merely shown there so that you can see the same regions on multiple images without having to copy and paste them to the Slaves.

Note, however, that if you create ROIs in a Slave display, these regions will not be shown on the Master or any of the other Slave displays.

To start showing ROIs on linked displays, click on the button.
Note: the button is not active unless you have linked displays (). The button icon will now look like , to show that ROIs are shown in linked displays. To stop showing ROIs on linked displays, click the button again.
