Stand-Alone Tools - Introduction

Many of the tools that are available within Jim are also available as stand-alone tools. You don't have to start Jim in order to use one of the tools: just start the tool that you need. Here, you can see a list of these tools.

The tools can be run either as a graphical (GUI) tool, as is seen when the tool is started within Jim, or as a text-only tool for batch processing.

On Unix platforms (including Mac OS), these tools (both GUI and text versions) are accessible via the scripts provided at installation (see Customising a Unix Installation, or Customising a Mac Installation).

On MS Windows, the tools are available via the Start Menu. Also provided on Windows are batch files so that you can run these tools in text mode from a DOS prompt (see Customising an MS Windows Installation).
