Jim's 3-D Display Capabilities - Introduction

Jim has the capability to display images interactively in a three-dimensional view. It can display various types of three-dimensional image information, and can combine all these types of view into a single composite display. It can display:

Three orthogonal planes through the data set.
An extracted iso-intense surface (iso-surface). You set the intensity of the surface you want to display.
Regions of interest - either as outlines in 3-D space, or as a rendered surface created from the ROIs.
Almost any object can be displayed if it is defined using the Virtual Reality Modelling Language (VRML97) file format. Various tools in Jim can create VRML object files, including the Brain Finder and the the Fuzzy Connector. Here is a good staring point to find out more about VRML97.

You can add as many of these 3-D display elements as you wish (subject to computer memory limitations) to create the view that you want.

To start Jim's 3-D display, select 3-D Viewer from the Toolkits menu:

The blank 3-D Viewer frame will now appear, ready for you to add the elements you wish to display.

Now select the types of element you want to add from the File menu.
